Bach's Soloists
Prepare to be dazzled by one of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most brilliant works! As a keyboard virtuoso himself, Bach knew just how to show off his own skills, and his Brandenburg Concerto no. 5 is one of the best examples. Join harpsichordist Justin Luchinski, violinist Sarah Bleile Douglass and flautist Tim Janz for an all-Bach concert presented by Chamber Muse Historical Music Society of Calgary.

The Great Divide
Renaissance composers mastered writing music with multiple independent voices while Baroque composers created and developed a vastly different style with one soloist and accompaniment. Join soprano Hannah Pagenkopf and Chamber Muse Historical Music Society of Calgary for an exploration of these two styles and decide which one is your favourite. It won’t be an easy choice!

Voyageur Virtuose

Join Montréal-based recorder virtuosi Jérémie de Pierre and Élyse Lamanque Girard for a special interactive concert featuring music by J.S. Bach, Gautier de Marseille, Telemann and more.

The Forgotten Muse

Join a team of early music specialists for an interactive concert celebrating the work of this extraordinary woman.

Viola da Gamba & Harpsichord Throughout the Ages
What looks like a cello, but has six (or more) strings and frets like a guitar? What looks like a piano, but is made of wood and has plucked strings? Join early music specialists Tristan Best and Justin Luchinski for an interactive performance featuring the viola da gamba and harpsichord.

Winds of Change
When hearing the word “baroque,” what kind of music do you imagine? Did you know that the musical styles and instruments at the beginning of the period are actually quite different from those at the end? Join a group of early music specialists for an interactive concert that explores this development, from the early 1600s to the “high baroque”!

Chocolate Leclair
Chamber Muse presents a mini-concert featuring Jean-Marie Leclair's violin sonatas no. 1 & 5 from his fourth book of solo violin sonatas accompanied by basso continuo. Short and sweet!

Whim & Fury
Early eighteenth-century Italy had two very eccentric virtuoso violinists making waves in its social and musical circles. Francesco Maria Veracini was said to have great “whim and caprice” and Francesco Geminiani was called ”the furious” by their contemporary Giuseppe Tartini. Both composers were heavily influenced by the celebrated Arcangelo Corelli—Geminiani studied with him directly, while Veracini used his style as a model, particularly for his earlier works—though the sensitive, volatile personalities of these artists shine through in their music to make their styles undoubtedly their own.
To celebrate and highlight the contrast of these styles, violinist Sarah Douglass and harpsichordist Justin Luchinski present a selection of their chamber music repertoire with a nod to their predecessor Corelli.
